For the Hot Chocolate:
- 3.5 ounces Dark Chocolate (good quality), chopped into small pieces
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
- 1 cup + 1 tablespoon milk (2% or whole milk), divided
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Prepare Cornstarch Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk 1/4 cup of milk with cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
- Combine Cocoa and Sugar: Sift cocoa into a medium bowl, add sugar, and whisk together. Set aside.
- Heat Milk: In a small/medium pot, heat 3/4 cup + 1 tablespoon of milk until boiling. Reduce heat to low.
- Mix Ingredients: While whisking, add the milk/cornstarch mixture, then slowly incorporate the cocoa mixture until smooth. Add chopped chocolate and whisk for about 3 minutes.
- Serve: Pour into cups and enjoy your rich Italian hot chocolate!
